Nice to meet you, I'm Phil.

I'm running to be your USG President. Currently, I serve as a volunteer firefighter on the Makanda Township Fire Department and as my fraternity's Vice President. In these two roles, I've spent a ton of time making an effort to see improvement in our community here at Southern. As an intern at General Dynamics in Marion, I have also gained a ton of organizational experience working with big dollars and big decisions. From running for USG President as a freshman to my role on TKE's International Board of Directors, I have always done the most I can to push for the good.

My experience at SIU has been defined by service, and my history of service goes back as far as I can remember from 4-H as a kid to the fire department today.

If I was to say that I am proud of one attribute of mine, it would be my ability to take a hit and keep on going. Setbacks are common in life, and I know I have won just as much as I have lost. This year, I am hoping to maximize the potential SIU has by taking challenges head-on alongside the best team on campus.

Allow me to serve you, your friends, and your family by maximizing the immense potential offered by SIU and its programs as your Undergraduate Student Government President. I could tell you whatever you might want to hear; I will not do that, though. Instead, let me show you. I will not let you down. Thank you. Lets get to work!

Makanda Fire Department

Firefighter #525

There are two service-oriented roles that have been the central to my time in Carbondale; CoECTM Senatorship and volunteer firefighting.

In USG, I represented the college of Engineering. I have striven to inform our council and be its voice, and I have also leveraged the position to advocate for the college with the state government. I secured cosponsors for SB2606; look it up, it will provide mental health days (which was an issue I campaigned on in 2022!)

The fire department has been among the best experiences I've had in college. Continuous training as well as round-the-clock responsibilities to respond to emergency situations alongside my fellow firefighters has been a rewarding, if not challenging, experience so far.

Two-time Top Teke

I was a re-founding member of TKE in 2023, and I am a believer in our mission to serve as a positive example for what Greek life can be. When I started, we had around a dozen visionary men- in just a few short years, we have grown to over 70 members and have raised tens of thousands of dollars for St. Jude in the process. Recently, I was also elected as Chairman of the International Collegiate Advisory Committee to represent all of the Tekes across the US and Canada.

I had a lot of success competing in public speaking, sales, and business competitions. I earned my State Degree with a produce business that I owned and operated. I earned my American degree this year, and I am the 4th generation in my family to do so. I intend to support the FFA Organization for the rest of my life.
